Frustrated with Floyd
2020-06-07
I want to recap what’s been going on this year, to put into perspective where I think things are going.
- huge lockdowns that put almost every small business out of work
- biggest corporate handout in the history of the world
- conveniently thereafter, all the growing public resentment is funnelled into race riots and divisive rhetoric, pitting regular people against each other
- but the protests are disorganized and pointless, with no real understanding of the policies or systems that would need to change, no pressure to apply - so all the change will be decided by corporations and institutions
- inevitable "second wave" will be blamed on either protesters who never cared about the pandemic, or affected people saying we should have reopened a month ago - more division amongst regular folk
To say nothing of the general lack of coverage of Biden’s sexual assault allegations, despite spending most of the summer on Trump’s salacious private life in 2016 (which nobody found any evidence of criminal behavior therein).
What is there to say?
It’s been a disaster. It’s turning into more of a disaster. This was eating at me, the way that every major development this year has been working against regular people, and into the hands of either the worst elements of our country, or those already in power.
